A big welcome to Luke who has joined our Health & Fitness Team this month!
Luke has come to us with a wealth of fitness knowledge, having previously played for Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club as an Academy Player from 2002 – 2006, and Shrewsbury Football Club as a Scholar, training with the First Team from 2006 to 2009.
Since leaving Shrewsbury Football Club due to a knee injury, Luke has worked hard to gain a Level 2 qualification in Fitness Instructing, and a Level 3 in Personal Training. He hopes to start a course in Diabetes and Weight Management as an advanced Level 4 qualification so that he can help people who are in a similar position to him; diabetic but with a passion for fitness.
Luke was diagnosed with Diabetes Type I after collapsing aged 12 whilst playing football at WWFC. Since then, he’s had a first-hand experience of dealing with the condition and would like to help others who are put off by group exercise for fear of hypo- or hyperglycemic incidents.
He has a passion for cardio exercise, and is keen to impart his knowledge about diet and endurance events to any members who might be interested. Luke is happy to chat about his condition, and would love to share tips on how to manage his diabetes through diet and lifestyle.
