Erika is a favourite amongst many of our visitors, providing beauty treatments at Beauty Within situation in the Health & Fitness Club.  You may not have seen her walking around the hotel given that her days are usually filled with appointments and so it is rare to see her out of her room!

There are many that can attest to Erika’s talents, as well as her positive and sunny vibes that make her so popular.

Erika lives locally with her husband and three children and updates us on how she’s been passing the time and what she enjoys about being part of the Patshull team.

“I first started at Patshull Park in 1996 where I worked in the coffee shop when it was called Bunkers! I moved onto the Reception team shortly after where I stayed until I had my son Taylor in 1998. After coming back from maternity leave, I did a job share for a year but then left in 1999 to go back to college.

At college I completed an NVQ level 2 and 3 in Beauty Therapy. After qualifying I returned to Patshull as a Beauty Therapist in the Leisure department in 2004, where I have remained ever since!

I’ve seen a fair few staff come and go over the years, but I’ve also made some great friends that I miss even though we no longer work together.  Without working at Patshull, I wouldn’t have met my husband either, having met him through my best friend [and now sister-in-law] JoJo.  With her experience of wedding co-ordinating and our connection with Patshull, I didn’t consider anywhere else to get married, and in 2015 Stu and I tied the knot in front of our family and friends.

During my time here, I’ve been on maternity leave a total of three times including twice whilst in the Leisure department.  My daughters Kiki and Biba were born in 2011 and 2013 and life has been a whirlwind of arts and crafts ever since! During lockdown I’ve had to be creative with keeping the girls entertained; my glue gun is constantly in action making everything from toilet roll chicks to sock bunnies for everyone. It’s hectic and I think the neighbours can’t wait us to return to work and everything to get back to normal!

I’ve been making sure to get out each day and get my hour of exercise with either a morning run or following a Joe Wicks YouTube video.  Either Stu or I walk our 2 pugs, Gertie and Ernie as they deserve some outdoor time too.  We often get the girls to help so that it tires everyone out and makes for an easier time in the house, as I’m sure parents throughout the country can understand!

I’m really missing being at work; I’m lucky that I get paid to converse with clients all day and I genuinely love catching up with them all on a weekly basis.  I’m missing them all during this unprecedented time, as well as my work colleagues.  I hope that we’re able to get back to work and normality as soon as possible so that I can get back to the job I love.

I’m also looking forward to getting the girls back to school, as I know it’s been a huge disruption to their lives too.  Their teachers have been a fantastic resource during this time in providing online lessons, but I know that the girls are missing time with their friends and being independent.

I hope that all of my clients are staying safe and well during the lockdown.  I have a sneaking suspicion that I’m going to be very busy in the weeks after lockdown is lifted, and I couldn’t be happier!”
