Continuing on from our premier Up Close & Personal Blog post of our Golf Professional Rich, we now welcome you to Jo Guest.

There is rarely a regular visitor to Patshull Park who hasn’t encountered Jo at some point, either through the booking process or at Reception.

JoJo has been with us for 22 years this month, where she started on Reception as a Receptionist before moving to the Sales team in 2001 to be our Wedding Co-ordinator.  There will be over 1,000 couples that recognise JoJo in this context.  JoJo has now become Sales Manager, having been promoted in early 2018.

During the COVID-19 outbreak, we reached out to JoJo at home to catch up with her and see what she loves about Patshull Park, and what she hopes for the future of the hotel once we return to work.

“I love all aspects of my job here at Patshull.  My favourite part of my time here will always be when I was wedding coordinating, and seeing all the work come together for each couple’s big day.  Since becoming Sales Manager, we’re lucky to have had Bec join our team as our Wedding Coordinator and she’s been doing an excellent job for almost five years now.  Connections with the guests are a highlight of my job, and the familiar relationships you make with customers that return year-on-year.  It’s always rewarding to see them return and support us as an independent hotel.

My hope for the future is that we resume normal operations as soon as we’re told it’s safe. I love the interactions every day and enjoy being a part of a motivated and fun team at work that’s always joking and revelling in banter.  Many of us have worked alongside each other for upwards of a decade, so as well as being isolated from my family, I feel that I’m being isolated from my work family too!

In my job, one of the benefits of speaking with customers over the phone is getting an understanding of what they expect when they come to Patshull Park.  I love it when I can exceed their expectations, and always try to go the extra mile.  In the past, we’ve helped to organise wedding proposals on the jetty, anniversaries and arrivals by helicopter.  There’s always new ideas that we like to propose to our customers to help facilitate a memorable stay.

I have too many positive memories of Patshull Park to narrow down one in particular, but I know that I’ve made some great friendships over the years and appreciated the leadership and support that my colleagues and managers have given me along the way.

What does home life look to you?

I have a 10 year old daughter Evie who has enough hobbies for the both of us! She keeps me really busy, and has helped me to move house recently where we now have a lovely garden, which is lucky given the current circumstances.  I’m keep to learn more about gardening, and would love to hear some tips!

Home life has always been busy, but I love it! I feel sometimes that I’m winging it, but I imagine there are parents throughout the country that also feel the same way, and it’s worked out well for Evie and me so far.

I’m looking forward to getting back to my second home; Patshull Park is a unique place to work where the loyalty from the team just shines through.

What’s an interesting fact about yourself that our customers may not know?

Erika, who is our Beauty Therapist in the Health & Fitness Club is actually my sister-in-law!  I’ve known Erika for many years since working together at Reception.   She got married here to my brother and I was honoured to have been able to help organise their big day.
